Study Purpose:
This study looks at how your body processes different amounts of flavonoids (nutrients found in certain foods) over time. You will follow both a high-flavonoid diet and a low-flavonoid diet so we can compare the effects.
Participation Includes:
• Avoid certain foods, alcohol, supplements, and smoking during the study
• Consume a variety of snacks provided to you for two three week periods
• Give blood and urine samples
• Twice weekly (back-to-back days) visits to the study site at the NRI (500 Laureate, Kannapolis, NC 28081) for sample collection and food pick-ups, and use of an app to track diet intake.
How long is the study?
The study lasts 11 weeks.
Recruitment Requirements:
• Age between 40 and 70 years
• BMI between 18 and 30 kg/m²
• Generally healthy with no chronic disease
• Not taking medications, supplements, or antibiotics
• Not engaging in high-intensity exercise
• No allergy to milk, soy milk, green tea, blueberries, apples, or pineapples
• Non-smoking
Compensation:
Compensation up to $1,000 for your time and participation.
