When programs are in Kannapolis, they are presented at the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Biotechnology Training Center, 399 Biotechnology Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 on the North Carolina Research Campus. Each program features an expert presentation and informal discussion. Light bites will be provided.
In Charlotte, we collaborate with Johnson & Wales University for programs called Cooking for Nourishment. These feature a JWU chef and an NRI registered dietitian who demonstrate and discuss healthy eating and cooking. Samples of the dishes demo’d are served follow the presentation. January 20 – Appetite for Life with a Twist
Join us on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 1:00PM ET (via Zoom) for a “New Year’s Wellness Workshop with the NRI.” This Workshop will feature multiple nutrition, fitness, and research experts from the Nutrition Research Institute and our local community. We’ve built this workshop around some popular New Year’s resolutions and will be providing advice and inspiration to help you reach your 2021 goals!
Resolution #1: Eat well!
Are you hoping to update your plate in 2021? The NRI’s Kendra Nelson, MPH, RD, will provide practical advice on establishing healthy eating habits for the New Year.
Resolution #2: Take care of my mind and body!
Is working from home taking a toll on your body? Chris Yandle, Fitness Director at Charlotte Strength/Head Coach, NoDa Fit, will lead a mobility sequence that you can do from your desk to release tension and stretch sore muscles. Struggling to stay focused or experiencing stress in these unprecedented times? We’ll share UNC resources for creating your own mindfulness practice at home.
Resolution #3: Try something new!
Looking to try something new this year? Have you considered participating in a research study at the NRI? Representatives from our labs and Human Research Core will share their studies with you: what they’re trying to learn, how research works, and how you can get involved.
