This summer, NRI students continue to shine bright and have been recognized for their endeavors both on the University level and nationally!
Congratulations to Halle Fogle, an incoming graduate student in the Sergey Krupenko Lab. Halle recently received a UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health Department Award through the Department of Nutrition in recognition of her strong academic ability and potential to contribute to finding and implementing public health solutions in the future. Halle has been working as a research technician in the S. Krupenko lab since August of 2020.
Congratulations to Kaylee Helfrich, a PhD student in the Smith Lab. Kaylee was selected as one of three 3-Minute Thesis Competition Winners at the American Society for Nutrition’s Nutrition 2021 Live Online Meeting! Kaylee impressed the judges with a three-minute synopsis of her research titled “In a Preclinical Model of Prenatal Alcohol Exposure, an Iron Supplementation Intervention Reduces Anxiety-Like Behavior in Both Sexes and Improves Growth in Males.” Her exciting findings could pave the way for future breakthroughs in fetal alcohol exposure research and interventions.
