Ashlyn Mazzocchi

Graduate Student, Rushing Lab

Ashlyn is driven by her passion for nutrition and her commitment to helping others live healthier lives. After receiving her bachelor’s of science in Nutrition and Dietetics from James Madison University, Ashlyn decided to move to North Carolina and join the NRI. She first worked as a dietetic technician for the Tate Lab, supporting the groundbreaking Nutrition for Precision Health study, but has since then transitioned back to her student status. Ashlyn is now pursuing her PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Working under the mentorship of Dr. Blake Rushing, her research focuses on using metabolomics to uncover how nutrient metabolism interacts with cancer metabolism. Ashlyn is always eager to learn and hopes to blend her love for food with her love for science to contribute to a healthier future.
