Future Directions of Choline
Future Directions in Choline
Designed for researchers in the field of choline biology and its role in human health – across academia, government, and industry.
Presented by: University of North Carolina Nutrition Research Institute (UNC NRI) with support from Balchem.
First established as an essential nutrient in 1998, choline is a nutrient with critical roles in the health and development of the brain, liver, and more. The past 25 years have seen significant advances in the science – but where can we go from here? Hear from the leading experts in the field of choline nutrition about the progress of the last 25 years, and be part of the discussion on where the next 25 years of choline research should lead us.
Goals
- Discuss the current state of choline science in human nutrition throughout the lifespan – from prenatal needs through early childhood, and into our later years
- Identify areas of research needed in choline biology that can best inform our understanding of this nutrient’s impact in human health
- Bring together leading minds in choline nutrition across academia, government, and industry to align on what we should communicate to the public about the contributions of dietary choline to human health
Features
- Meet and engage with key thought-leaders in choline nutrition research
- Small-group breakouts involve all attendees in conversation with leading scientists to identify recommendations for future research and public communication on choline nutrition
- Tour the UNC Nutrition Research Institute, a cutting-edge research facility hosting several of the top researchers in choline nutrition
- Commemorate the career of Steven Zeisel, MD, PhD, a pioneer in the field of choline nutrition
- For students/postdoc attendees: submit your research for presentation as a poster or oral session
