The Pregnant Women Health Study being conducted by UNC NRI, is a community-based study that is looking to understand how genetic and lifestyle factors affect nutrient metabolism, particularly glycine, purine and folate metabolism, in pregnancy. We recruit women of all ethnicities, between the age groups of 18-45 years, without any regard to disease status, that are currently pregnant.

This study involves a visit to our facility, the Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) in Kannapolis, NC for about 1-2 hours. It also involves the following:

•       Providing informed consent,
•       height, weight & blood pressure measurements,
•       urine, and blood samples, and
•       socio-demographic, lifestyle, dietary patterns, and medical history information via questionnaires
