Steve May joined the UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute in January 2025. He grew up in Concord, N.C., and worked for the Kannapolis Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. After retirement, he worked in the private sector for 14 years before coming onboard the Nutrition Research Institute. He and his wife Melody, a Kannapolis native, have a daughter, a son, and two grandsons.
