Your Support Matters:
A Video from Madeline Childress
Research at the NRI is making a difference in peoples’ lives by providing updated, quality health information in a timely, easy-to-understand and culturally appropriate manner is crucial for Hispanic families. I strongly believe that if we are able to: 1) provide a space for Hispanic families to share and assess their needs, and 2) facilitate informational sessions that are culturally appropriate, could make a difference.
As a Kannapolis native, working at the NRI has given me an opportunity to use my education and experience in a professional position close to home, where I have grown my career and had opportunities for professional advancement not often afforded previously without traveling to jobs based in Charlotte. Helping grow my community is rewarding in itself, but helping create pathways for others in my community to succeed is what makes me proudest about my work at the Nutrition Research Institute.
Working at the NRI has shown me just how powerful nutrition is in influencing every aspect of my health. I’ve noticed that not only do I feel better physically—having more energy and fewer aches—but I also think more clearly and feel more balanced. It’s been eye-opening to see how small, intentional changes in diet can add quality and vitality to each day. I now realize nutrition isn’t just about physical health; it also supports mental clarity, resilience, and truly adds life to my years.
