The position is located in Kannapolis, NC, approximately 2 hours from UNC’s main campus.
Position Summary
- Start IVs and blood draws from IVs following clinical best practices for bloodborne pathogens and SOPs
- Collect and process human specimens including but not limited to blood, urine, stool, and saliva. This includes but is not limited to centrifuging, aliquoting, and sample storage
- Compile data from study equipment and record lab results in participant files
- Maintain study records according to study protocols and HIPPA regulations
- Handle participant recruitment, eligibility screenings, and informed consent
- Perform anthropometric and clinical measurements including but not limited to blood pressure, height, and weight
- May assist in coordinating the daily operations of the Clinical Research Core
- May train and/or supervise other technicians in laboratory processing techniques
- May assist with metabolic kitchen maintenance in conjunction with Kitchen Manager
NOTE: This is a temporary position via University Temporary Services (UTS). UTS provides temporary staffing services to UNC Chapel Hill and NC State.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience with and comfortable in placing, assessing, and managing IVs for purposes of repeated blood collection. If no IV experience, we are willing train individuals with excellent phlebotomy skills
- Ability to work independently, possibly as the only licensed or certified staff onsite during study visits (additional study staff and management available to support non-medical activities)
- CITI certification or willingness to complete training upon hire
- Currently licensed or certified in the State of North Carolina as an Advanced EMT, LPN, or RN
- Early mornings, evenings, and weekends shifts may be required
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Coursework in Nursing or related field preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
