The Office of the Vice Chancellor (OVCR) for Research is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming research culture at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.   The OVCR and the UNC Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) support UNC’s Diversity and Inclusion statement to build understanding across differences, create conditions to ensure the equitable educational social benefits of diversity, and cultivate a welcoming and supporting environment.

The UNC NRI is pleased to fund tuition scholarships for under-represented applicants to attend the Precision Nutrition and Brain Health Virtual Symposium on April 15-16, 2021.

Eligibility

Diversity scholarships support the virtual Precision Nutrition and Brain Health Symposium by helping provide a professional development and training environment that embraces diversity of race, gender, ethnicity, and geographic origin by providing scholarship funds to students, postdoctoral researchers, and eligible investigators from groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in health-related research.  This supplement opportunity is also available to professionals of who are or have become disabled and need additional support to accommodate their disability to expand their training opportunities and networking.  Research shows that diverse teams working together and capitalizing on innovative ideas and distinct perspectives outperform homogenous teams.
