January 25, 2019 – Pregnant women are often consumed by dietary choices such as finding a great prenatal vitamin, eating foods that will promote fetal growth, and doing everything they can to protect their pregnancy. After delivery, however, the mother’s preoccupation with her diet often pauses for four to six months. The Cheatham Nutrition & Cognition Lab is turning this type of thinking on its head with the belief that what women eat while breastfeeding greatly impacts their breastmilk and ultimately, their children’s development. Read more.

Our world-class research facility on the North Carolina Research Campus opened in 2008 with the most advanced equipment, instrumentation, and laboratories available. January 25, 2019 – Mary Ann Lila, PhD, director of the NC State Plants for Human Health Institute will present a fascinating talk on developments in functional foods that can address nutritional deficits.

Nutrigenetics, Nutrigenomics and Precision Nutrition Short Course Registration Is Open

January 25, 2019 – For the fourth year in a row, the UNC Nutrition Research Institute and the UNC Nutrition Obesity Research Center will present the NGx Short Course June 3-6, 2019 on the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC. This workshop-style course will provide the fundamental concepts of nutrigenetics, nutrigenomics and personalized nutrition through cutting-edge presentations and hands-on experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a personal DNA test and examine their own nutrigenetic data.
